DIGIPAK Mock-up 

This is the rough planning for the digipak. I want to set it in a blue tone and use scenes from the MV to cross-promote the two products. As I have already done a digipak planning before, I did not go in deeply at this stage because I know exactly what and how I want to create. Below, is the detailed planning of my previous digipak.

FRONT COVER:

The front cover design is very similar to the album 1989 from Taylor Swift. I have created it with the same composition of a person in the middle without the full face because I believe it would make the audience focus more on the whole composition of the cover instead of the face of the artist. It also helps the mouth stand out as it act as an important element in the song “shake it off”. The mouth is the sinner and devil that harms people in the song, a lot of lyrics refers to “they say”, so I’ve decided to make the artist have black lipstick on. The whole artist would be colorless/wearing black to match the lipstick and the “I don’t care” mood the song has, while the background is colorful with spray paints or flying powder because this would make her uniqueness stand out from all the outside voices which is what “shake it off” means in my interpretation. The title would be like a tattoo on the girl’s body, it would give the artist the branding of a free of constraint and don’t care what other’s think because tattoos are another common controversial element nowadays. The font of the tattoo would be hand written styled so it matches with all the other texts on the digipak. My targeted audience would likely be attracted by this album cover because younger people tend to like the contrast between things.

BACK COVER:

The back cover has the conventions of the bar code, the official website, the date of release, thankyou note, and the name of the record label. It only adds in simplistic elements at the sides to echo the whole digipak because I don’t want to over exaggerate and stress how dramatic the song is throughout the whole digipak as it may make the audience feel that the artist is “trying too hard”. I feel that our targeted audience would also be more likely to consume this product because they tend to like simplistic designs with eye catching details.

INSIDE LEFT:

The inside left is where I’ll promoted our MV. It gives the image of the four main characters in our MV on it’s four sides, implying that that our product is diverse and suitable for a wide range of audience. It will make the audience feel more related which would stimulate them to consume.

INSIDE RIGHT:

This is the place where I’ll place the disk so I haven’t made any designed on here. But, I’ve designed the look of the disk which is hand written “shake it off” repetitively in circles. This would make the phrase “shake it off” engrave in their mind. The background would also be in the same color scheme with the cover so when the disk is taken out, it would look relative to the album.
